The University Associates (UA) program enables full-time faculty members of Network institutions to come to New York University throughout the academic year to access some of NYU Division of Libraries’ physical academic facilities. UAs can make use of their semester-long tenure by researching in the University libraries and by participating in open departmental or interdisciplinary colloquia, lectures, symposia and seminars.
Borrowing and e-resource privileges are not available to University Associates as part of the program.
University Associates may apply for one or all semesters in the academic year. The UA program serves nearly 60 scholars annually.
APPLICATIONS Applications must be accompanied by a brief narrative outlining the intent of the applicant’s scholarly activity or curricular development plan, along with current curriculum vitae. The proposal should indicate specific ways in which the faculty member would benefit as a scholar and a teacher, and ways that the project would enhance the academic life of the home institution. Once an application is completed online, an email will be sent to the applicant’s institution’s Liaison Officer for approval.
POST-TERM REPORTS Upon completion of each semester as University Associates, participants are required to submit to their Liaison Officers a brief description of academic work accomplished during that semester. A copy of the report should be sent to the Faculty Resource Network. Continuation of University Associates privilege is contingent upon submission of the report.
PARTICIPATION RENEWAL For University Associates wishing to renew their participation in this program, a brief outline of project status and university resources used must be sent to the Liaison Officer and copied to the Faculty Resource Network before the renewal of privileges can be processed.
